I enrolled in the Advanced MT course December 2008 after starting with MTS of Kansas, LLC as an assistant coordinator. I am currently 20 years old and had taken a couple semesters of college right out of high school. I was undecided on my major, and really unclear where my future career options might lead. I have found the course to be very aggressive and intense, but certainly rewarding with all that I am learning. Donna Hill has been instrumental to this program and has guided me each and every step. Being onsite with Donella, Marla and Jenny has been very good for me and their direction, guidance and tutoring has enabled me to learn so much. I have completed the Beginning module, getting ready to start the Intermediat and then Advanced, and look forward to completing the progam this year. I have begun a practicum with MTS as a medical transcriptionist and am enjoying the challenges of learning this new language. I am thankful for this opportunity and look forward to my future as a medical language specialist.

I started the medical transcription course at age 55 for fear of losing my job. I worked in a political subdivision at the time. The medical transcription course materials were shipped to my home. I studied after I got off work from my full time job. It took me a little longer to finish due to my mother being ill, hospitalized, and eventually dying. After the estate business was finished my brother had open heart surgery, but I was finally able to finish the course and started working in November of 2000.
I did get to keep my job and did the transcribing after work and on weekends. With the medical transcription I was able to pay off my home. In 2006 there was another disruption at my work, and I decided to retire.
I am now 65 years old and am still transcribing and collect my retirement. The extra money has enabled me to remodel my kitchen and get many extras that I would have otherwise not been able to do. I think this was a very good change for me. You are never too old to learn no matter what you may think about "you can't teach an old dog new tricks." Anyone who is contemplating taking the course or wanting a new career, I say go for it.

Medical transcription was just the thing for me. The course was shipped to my home and I worked at my own speed learning the new medical language. It was challenging and fascinating. I would try out my new vocabulary on my family. I felt so smart!! The course was so interesting and was easy to understand. I also had the support from the school if there were any questions that came up.
After finishing the course, I worked at home for a while, learning more and having the support of other transcriptionists. Then I applied to a family practice clinic and have worked there for four years now. The medical field will always need transcriptionists no matter what the economy does and I can always find a job no matter where I live. I have the option of staying at home to work or working in a hospital or doctor's office. I enjoy my work and learn new things every day. It was the right choice for me and I am so glad I took the course and changed my life.

I have been a Medical Transcriptionist since 2003. I obtained my training through Donna Hill in 2002. Upon passing the learning phase of the program, I participated in a paid internship through the "working side" of the business. I found the training to be well organized and easy to follow, at my own rate of speed and in my home. The related follow-up internship was invaluable as most transcription companies require at least two years of experience on record. This type of training worked very well for me, and I have maintained a steady employment since leaving the school. Donna Hill is a wonderful mentor, and indeed a pleasant lady with whom to be affiliated, in any capacity, and is especially helpful in the field of Medical Transcription. You will do well should you have the good fortune to work with her in learning a new career in the Medical Transcription field.
